At 4:30 this morning the Palmetto Council’s 2012 Shakedown troop rolled away to the be part of the First Scouts on the Summit.  We have a troop of 35 scouts and 4 leaders representing us on this exciting new adventure for the BSA and the Palmetto Council.  Scoutmaster Scott Garner has done a superb job of making sure the troop was ready for the Shakedown.  Thanks to Scott, Duane, Steve, and Brady for leading our scouts this week.  Shakedown scouts will enjoy 5 days with all the thrills of Jamboree activities at the Summit.  Canopy zip line tours, whitewater rafting, shooting sports, mountain boarding, mountain biking and much more.  Shakedown scouts will be featured in the 2013 jamboree promotion and  troop training films.  These scouts will truly be part of scouting history.  Many will come in the days and years to come but these scouts will always be the First on the summit.
