Greg Leitch serves as the Scout Executive / Chief Executive Officer of the Palmetto Council of the Boy Scouts of America. Mr. Leitch began his duties at the Palmetto Council on October 7, 2013. His duties include giving leadership and direction to the Scouting program in the Upstate area of South Carolina through the development of top quality volunteers and board members. He supervises all financial and service operations necessary for Scouting programs to deliver outstanding program experiences for children.

Greg has also served as the Assistant Scout Executive / Chief Operating Officer of the East Texas Area Council in Tyler, Texas. His duties included the leadership of all Scouting operations within a 17 county region. He directed a professional staff of 10 who supported over 3,000 volunteer leaders in the delivery of quality Scouting program experiences for children ages 6-21. His role was to ensure that all members of the Scouting program had safe camping facilities, superior training support, renewable financial resources, and ample opportunities for advancement. He was also responsible for the management of a $2.1 million operating budget. Some of Leitch’s accomplishments include receiving the Journey to Excellence Gold Status each year as COO, achieving the highest School Night for Scouting results in council history, and serving for a short time as the acting Scout Executive.

Mr. Leitch is an Eagle Scout, a Vigil Honor member of the Order of the Arrow, and a recipient of the Profession Circle Award. Mr. Leitch is a native of Knoxville, Tennessee. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Communications from the University of Tennessee. Greg is a member of the Rotary Club of Spartanburg and a Paul Harris fellow. He is a graduate of Leadership Spartanburg and serves on their Board of Regents. Greg and his wife are involved in the Friends of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, the Nature Conservancy, United Way, Spartanburg Humane Society, and the National Eagle Scout Association.

Greg is married to Valerie Leitch, and the couple have two children.
