Ready to build a strong base of knowledge on the 7 Principles of Leave No Trace, then hone your teaching skills to become more effective at sharing it with others?

This 2-day course is great for guides, land managers, outdoor educators and anyone who wants to help protect our cherished natural resources. As a participant, you’ll prepare and teach a lesson to your fellow students and receive helpful instructor feedback.

The course includes a mild to moderate-intensity overnight backpacking trip on the beautiful Foothills Trail. It’s a spectacular course setting in which to practice the skills we learn.

The course includes a mild to moderate-intensity overnight backpacking trip. We'll travel 6.5 miles on both days, ascending 750-feet on the first and descending the same amount on the second. The pace will be relaxed to help us keep the emphasis on Leave No Trace content. Worried about whether you're up to it? Don't hesitate to drop us a line and we'll chat.

Some previous backpacking experience is recommended. The backpacking component of the course is designed to be straight-forward and not distract from the Leave No Trace content we'll cover. However, the course is also not designed to teach backpacking skills.

Our dinner and breakfast during the course will be cooked at camp. Your instructor will bend over backwards to set you up for success, but cooking is a participation activity on this course! We’ll cook in groups of 2 or 3 to make the most of small backpacking stoves. Vegetarian options are available.
