This course is ideal for trip leaders, camp staff, outdoor enthusiasts, scouts and scout leaders, and anyone who works or spends time in remote environments. This course teaches advanced skills to be used in emergencies when help from professional first responders may be far away. Based on the Boy Scouts of America Wilderness First Aid Curriculum and Doctrine Guidelines, this course aligns with OSHA’s Best Practices for Workplace First Aid Training Programs. Must be over 14 years old.

Course length: 16 hours

Topics include: Primary and Secondary Assessments, Head/Brain, Neck and Spinal Injuries Heat-Related Emergencies, Hypothermia, Altitude-Related Illnesses, Allergies and Anaphylaxis, Burns, Bone and Joint Injuries, Wounds and Wound Infection. You will learn how to stabilize emergencies, dress exposed wounds, treat weather exposure and practice other common survival skills. WFA courses are scheduled to coincide with a CPR course, available separately. All teaching materials will be at no additional cost. Students will receive the following books on this course: Wilderness First Aid Guide, SOAP Notebook and The Emergency Care and Safety Institute Wilderness First-Aid Handbook.
