Victor Durrah, Jr. will be promoted to the new position of Director of Multi-Cultural Markets. Victor will work closely with community leaders throughout the council to build strong Scouting programs within culturally diverse neighborhoods. He will also lead our Exploring career education programs to help high school students learn valuable career skills.
Victor has served with distinction for four years as a Senior District Executive in the Daniel Morgan District. He was recently recognized with the Mary L. Thomas Award for Civic Leadership and Community Change by the Spartanburg County Foundation.
Taylor M. Thomas will be promoted to Senior District Executive and will begin service in the Daniel Morgan District on September 4, 2015. Taylor has served for two years in the York District where he and his volunteer team have led the council in each of the four areas of district operations while earning JTE Gold status each year. Taylor also supports the technology, marketing, and camp promotions programs of the council.
Taylor was recently chosen to attend the BSA Emerging Leaders conference representing the top 1% of field executives in the Scouting program.
Alec Surrett will join the Palmetto Council field service team as a District Executive serving in the York District. Alec is a recent graduate of Furman University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Religious Studies. He is an Eagle Scout, Vigil Honor member and Founders Award recipient in the Order of the Arrow, and was chosen as District Scout of the Year in 2010. He is a past OA Lodge Chief and Section SR-5 Secretary. Alec is a founding member of Alpha Phi Omega National Service Fraternity at Furman where he served as Chapter President.
Alec is well known in our council from his many summers on staff at Camp Ho Non Wah in Charleston, SC. He was honored by Camp Ho Non Wah as Staff Member of the Year in 2009 and with the Director’s Award for Achievement in 2013.
