2017 National Jamboree Interest Meetings

Your son has the opportunity to attend Scouting’s largest activity—
The National Scout Jamboree which will be held at the Summit
Bechtel Reserve in West Virginia. We will be attending from July 19
- July 28, 2017. The Palmetto Council Jamboree contingent will
leave from Spartanburg and Rock Hill.
Contingent reservations are on a first come basis to all who qualify.
After our Troop is filled, a stand-by list of alternates will be
established. Total cost for this experience is $1,400. A $200 deposit
and a completed jamboree registration are what are needed at this
time. Installments of $250 due quarterly (April, July, October,
January, and final amount in April 2017.)
Jambo registration must be completed at bsajamboree.org. The
$200 deposit can be paid through the council website on the
“Events” tab. A limited number of camperships will be available for
assistance, and fundraising activities are planned to help off-set
the cost of this experience.
The jamboree fee includes all transportation, admission fees,
meals, lodging, patrol and troop equipment, insurance, and
training camp before the jamboree. Your expenses will be personal
equipment, uniforms, and spending money.
If you sign up for the jamboree and cannot attend, you will receive
a full refund from the Palmetto Council as long as there is an
alternate to take your place.
Requirements: Scout must be First Class & at least 12 years old by
the first day of the jamboree, or 11 and have graduated the 6th
grade, but have not reached their 18th birthday by the last day of
the jamboree. Meet health requirements. Participate in pre-
Jamboree training events.
