The Council Service Center will be closed for the week of July 4th. The Palmetto Scout Shop will be closed July 2nd-4th and will reopen on July 5th at 9:00 am. Please take this opportunity to celebrate all of the things that make our country great. We wish our entire Scouting family a safe and enjoyable Independence Day!
Retirement of Dan O'Neal
Our Senior Director of Philanthropy, Mr. Dan O’Neal, has tendered his letter of retirement from professional service effective June 30th, 2016. He has accepted a calling to begin overseas mission work. He will be working closely with a foundation dedicated to ending child slavery and human trafficking in foreign countries. He will begin his new role with them on July 1, 2016.
Dan has served as an important part of the Palmetto Council family for the past three years after an extensive career with Ducks Unlimited. A reception is being planned in mid-July to recognize Dan for his contributions to the youth and families that we serve.
Please join us in congratulating Dan and his family as they undertake this exciting new adventure.

Rocket Into Scouting (Fall Recruitment) Sign-Up
This fall the Palmetto Council will be recruiting on Saturday mornings rather than weekday evenings. The council will approach the schools as normal inviting potential Scouts to "Rocket Into Scouting." The joining meetings will allow parents to complete applications, launch a rocket with their son, and learn about local packs to join. We will have several locations to join each community. In August we will have training at Roundtable. The Rocket Into Scouting theme has been tested around the Country with much success. Please list your recruitment contact and pack information below so we can send you more details as they become available. Pack should submit this information by July 1, 2016.
Lion Pilot Update
We are very excited about the opportunity to participate as a pilot council in the Lion Program this fall. All packs interested in participating in this pilot program should apply by July 1, 2016. You can apply online by clicking HERE! The Palmetto Council will begin approving pilot programs in the upcoming weeks and will continue to approve applications on regular basis until the July 1st deadline. Please note that participating units will need to have a designated Lion Guide who is NOT the parent of a current Lion who is willing to take a mandatory 1 hour training course online. The council will offer three training opportunities: June 13th, June 21st, and June 30th all occurring from 7:00-8:00 pm via conference call and webinar. To register for the training courses, click on the above dates. For more information on the Lion Pilot Program, please visit our website by clicking HERE!
