Troop 776 Merit Badge University

Date: October 22, 2016
Location: Advent United Methodist Church
2258 Woodruff Road
Simpsonville, SC

The learning environment at a MBU is very much like a regular school day divided into two 4-hour teaching sessions making it possible for the typical scout to work on at least two different merit badges, Cyber Chip, or Tenderfoot rank badge requirement during the day. Scouts will be able to sign up for two sessions.
Are you a first year Scout that missed Summer Camp? A session will be offered to cover requirements that Scouts have an opportunity to complete at Summer Camp.
All Scouts are welcome to attend. Scouts can sign up individually or as a Troop.
Information about the event and registration for all merit badge classes is available online at www.meritbadge.info.

Clemson University Scout University

On Saturday April 16th, 2016. Alpha Phi Omega - National Service Fraternity at Clemson University will host an event called Clemson University Scouting University!! This event is a continuation from our Clemson University Girl Scout University event, with a slightly different twist. This new event will allow us to host Girl Scouts from the Brownie, Junior, and Cadette ages AND Cub Scouts in the Bear, Webelos, and Arrow of Light ages!! All classes will be held within Clemson University Classrooms and taught by Alpha Phi Omega members and/or Scout Leaders.

While this event is NOT for Boy Scout Troops, we will have our 5th Year of the Clemson University Merit Badge University on September 24th, 2016!! But we ask that Boy Scout Leaders please forward this information to their Cub Scout contacts. CU Scouting University is the first Cub Scout event we have hosted in recent memory, so we are lacking many Cub Scout contacts.

This will be our first attempt at hosting an event where we have scouts from the Girl Scout program and Cub Scout Program together but we are truly excited about the opportunity that can come from it!! As far as we know, this type of event hasn't been done before and will be the first time we have mixed the two programs together!

The event will let the scouts earn two different badges or loops depending on their program.

The cost is $20 for all scouts. The cost includes lunch (pizza, chips, and drink), class materials, event patch, and earn badges for the Girl Scouts / earned loops for the Cub Scouts. Leaders will have the opportunity to purchase a lunch ticket for $3 as well. Otherwise Leaders/Parents do not have to pay for the event.

Scouts should only sign up for one class selection. Scouts who sign up for multiple section listings will be dropped off the website. Group pairings have been predetermined and likely will not be changing. We will look into additional class sections and changes depending on demand for the event. We will do everything to accommodate all interested scouts.

Registration for CU Scouting University will open on March 4th and will close April 8th.

In order to sign up for the event, we ask that the Girl Scout Troop or Cub Scout Pack create an account on www.meritbadge.info. This site is used widely among the scouting community for different events. If you need assistance signing up on the website, please see our information website below or feel free to e-mail us for assistance.

The listing for all the classes can be found here: http://www.meritbadge.info/mbn/EventDetails.aspx?ID=333EAC0D-BB21-48E8-A9FB-3FB39EDA86AC

Our Information Website for the event can be found here: https://sites.google.com/site/clemsongsu/

Our Google Website will also serve as our payment website as well. A direct link can be found here: https://sites.google.com/site/clemsongsu/payment

The event patch has been attached to the e-mail as well. Extra event patches can be purchased for $3.50 on the payment website or purchased at the event, while supplies last.

Please forward this e-mail to any interested scouts or scouters, it will help us greatly to spread the news about the event! If you have any questions about the event, please e-mail gammalambda.apo@gmail.com for any questions. If you would like to be removed from future e-mails, please just reply to this email for removal. Additional information e-mails will be sent out in the near future.

We hope that this is a very successful event for all scouts regardless of program and that we can showcase Clemson University to the future generation of college students!! Hope to see you all on April 16th in Tigertown!!!
